A family-owned cemetery serving Chesapeake, northeast North Carolina, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and surrounding communities since 1963.
Our Story
Chesapeake Memorial Gardens was founded in 1963 as a privately-owned perpetual care cemetery in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia. Located in the heart of historic Great Bridge, the cemetery was acquired by the Jones family in 1980 and continues to serve as a dedicated place of commemoration for the surrounding community and the Greater Tidewater area. Located within the cemetery grounds, the Berea Church cemetery stands to incorporate Chesapeake’s history, dating as far back as the Civil War. Although it shares its name with several historic church burial grounds across Virginia, the Berea section features its own lineage, unique to the Tidewater region.
Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, now in its third generation of stewardship, remains family owned and operated. As a private cemetery in Chesapeake, we have proudly served our growing community over the decades and we are committed to delivering a supportive and comforting experience for those we are entrusted to serve.
Honoring Those Who Served
In memory of our brave men and women, on Veterans Day, we take pause to remember their sacrifice, alongside the local communities and their families. We welcome Wreaths Across America to our grounds, ensuring that our uniformed service members are memorialized with the dignity and respect they deserve.
A peaceful place to visit in every season.
Chesapeake Memorial Gardens offers quiet beauty throughout the year. Each season brings a different kind of beauty to our grounds, and every corner reflects our family’s commitment to keeping this a dignified place to remember and visit.
